Adolescences revised
As children, we believe our parents are invincible. We are under the illusion that they are impervious to all disaster. Since they have always been, they must always continue to be. Until something shatters that fantasy. The reality is that our parents are simply people. As we grow older we notice their short comings. Their ability to become sick, their frailty.
Its unsettling to realize your hero isn’t invincible. To find the person you’ve worshiped has secrets, weaknesses. To acknowledging that our parents make mistakes. It shifts the foundation we base so many decisions on. And soon you find yourself in a spiral of doubt. Lifting the veil and seeing things for what they were. Allowing your eyes to see past childhood fantasy, and focus into the reality.
Can you blame them? They are human. They make mistakes like us, get sick, they die. Adolescences revised.
